Andrew Marsham is Reader in Classical Arabic Studies at the University of Cambriedge, in the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. He studied History at Oxford and then an MPhil in Classical and Medieval Islamic History before travel and study in Syria. He returned to Oxford to work on a DPhil in Islamic History, and continued to travel in the Middle East. He has previously held positions at the Universities of Sheffield, Cambridge, Manchester and Edinburgh.
